  20.       Microsoft Windows or Windows for Workgroups V3.1 or V3.11.
  21.       TimeRuler cannot run on any earlier version of Windows.

  23.   Installation Instructions
  24.  
  25.       1. Backup your TimeRuler distribution diskette/ZIP file before you
  26.          install TimeRuler.
  27.  
  28.          You can do this by using the MS-DOS DISKCOPY command if you
  29.          received TimeRuler on a diskette, or by using the MS-DOS COPY
  30.          command if you received TimeRuler in some other way - such as from
  31.          a bulletin board etc. For more information on using either of
  32.          these commands, please refer to your MS-DOS User's Guide.

  34.       2. Place the backup copy of your TimeRuler diskette into your
  35.          computer's floppy drive and choose RUN from the Program Manager
  36.          FILE menu (or its equivalent if you are using a different shell).
  37.  
  38.       3. Type A:\INSTALL (or B:\INSTALL) and click on OK in the FILE/RUN
  39.          dialog box.
  40.  
  41.       4. Follow the installation instructions on the the screen.
  42.  
  43.       Note: Please keep TIMERULE.EXE and TIMERULE.HLP in the
  44.             same directory, and do not rename either of these files.
  45.  
  46.   Running TimeRuler
  47.  
  48.       Start TimeRuler by double-clicking on the TimeRuler icon in Program
  49.       Manager (or its equivalent) to run the program. Once TimeRuler has
  50.       started up, you can get to its main dialog as follows:
  51.  
  52.       - Click on the TimeRuler display, and hold the mouse button down
  53.         until the dialog appears, or
  54.  
  55.       - If you are using the keyboard, use Alt+TAB repeatedly until the
  56.         focus is on the TimeRuler window (this is a standard Windows key
  57.         combination), and the press Enter to bring up the main dialog.
  58.  
  59.       Once TimeRuler is running, you can get comprehensive on-line
  60.       help simply by pressing the Help button in any of the dialogs.

  64.   Installation Error Messages
  65.  
  66.       THE FILE XXXXXX.XXX IS NEEDED FOR INSTALLATION, BUT COULD NOT BE
  67.       FOUND, WHICH MEANS THAT PRODUCT INSTALLATION CANNOT BE COMPLETED.
  68.         Contact your support provider, or the author at the address
  69.         given below.

  71.       THE INSTALL PROGRAM WAS NOT ABLE TO CREATE THE DIRECTORY XXXXXX.
  72.         Please check that you have specified a valid disk letter, and
  73.         that the syntax is correct.

  75.       THE INSTALL PROGRAM WAS UNABLE TO INSTALL THE FILE XXXXXX.XXX,
  76.       WHICH MEANS THAT PRODUCT INSTALLATION CANNOT BE COMPLETED.
  77.         Contact your support provider, or the author at the address

  80.       THE INSTALL PROGRAM WAS UNABLE TO SET UP THE PROGRAM MANAGER
  81.       GROUP, WHICH MEANS THAT PRODUCT INSTALLATION CANNOT BE COMPLETED.

  85.       THE INSTALL PROGRAM HAS BEEN CORRUPTED, WHICH MEANS THAT PRODUCT

  90.       THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTALLATION CONTROL FILE
  91.       INSTALL.INF, WHICH MEANS THAT PRODUCT INSTALLATION CANNOT BE

  96.       THERE IS INSUFFICIENT FREE SPACE ON YOUR DISK DRIVE TO COMPLETE

  102.       If you still cannot find the information you need to get
  103.       TimeRuler started, you may request support as follows:

  120.       When requesting support, please supply the following information:
  121.  
  122.       * the product name and version number. You can obtain these from
  123.         the About command in TimeRuler's main dialog.
  124.  
  125.       * the serial number of your copy of TimeRuler. This is an
  126.         8-character string appearing in the About box.
  127.  
  128.       * a precise description of the problem, and the circumstances
  129.         that cause it to occur.
  130.  
  131.   Registering TimeRuler
  132.  
  133.       The evaluation period for an unregistered copy of TimeRuler starts
  134.       at the time it is first installed, and lasts 30 days. After this
  135.       time, you must either register it (use the form below), or delete
  136.       it from your system. If you prefer, you may register TimeRuler
  137.       online on CompuServe Information Service. Just GO SWREG and
  138.       follow the instructions. The registration ID for TimeRuler is
  139.       3369.
  140.  
  141.       When you register, you will be able to define up to 100 reminders
  142.       (the limit before you register is 10), you will be able to play WAV
  143.       file sounds for alarms and chimes, the repeating alarm feature will
  144.       be available, and you won't get any more nag screens!
  145.  
  146.       Please contact the author if you are interested in a site licence
  147.       for TimeRuler, since attractive discounts are available.

  149.  A Note to Shareware Distributors and BBS Operators
  150.  
  151.       You may distribute TimeRuler as shareware without seeking specific
  152.       approval from the author, provided that you observe the following
  153.       rules:

  155.       1.  All the components of TimeRuler (listed on page 1) must be
  156.           distributed together, unaltered.
  157.  
  158.       2.  Clients of your distribution service must be clearly informed
  159.           that TimeRuler is Shareware, and that payment to the author is
  160.           required if the program is used after the evaluation period.
